East and Northeast India are rain deficient by 82% between March 1 and 10. Almost all meteorological divisions in East and Northeast India are large rain deficient except Sub–Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim which is deficient.
There may be isolated light rain over parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha on March 11. Thereafter weather is expected to go dry. Light scattered rain may commence over northeast India from March 15 and isolated light rain is possible over parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and South Odisha from March 16. Between March 18 and 20, there may be light to moderate rain at many places over east and northeast India.

A cyclonic circulation may develop over parts of Chhattisgarh Jharkhand and Odisha on March 17 and 18 and a trough will be extending up to northeast India. This weather system will gradually move towards east carrying rain activities up to Bangladesh and Northeastern part of the country.
