In fact, the state capital failed to cross its monthly average rainfall which was mere 3.4 mm. However, it did manage to surpass the monthly average maximum temperature which is 30.9°C. The highest ever recorded temperature for the month of February is 36.7°C which was on February 1927.

This year, the maximum temperatures remained normal or slightly below normal throughout the month. Barring a couple of occasions when it increased by 2°C to 3° C. On February 2, the maximum temperatures settled at 31.9°C and on February 8 at 32.4°C.

Moreover, since last three days, the maximum temperatures are on a rise and are crossing the 32-degree mark.

As per Skymet Weather, there is no significant weather system affecting Tamil Nadu at present. Therefore, weather over Tamil Nadu would continue to remain dry in the upcoming days also.

In wake of this, the temperatures will continue to settle marginally above normal, leading to warm and humid weather.

However, we expect light rains to commence around March 10-11 on account of the confluence zone which is likely to form over Tamil Nadu. During that time, a slight relief is expected.
