Pamban, Kollam to witness rains today, Chennai to remain dry

The southern states of the country, especially Kerala and Tamil Nadu witnesses minimal weather activities during this time. Rains had remained far from showing up, resulting in the temperatures to mount.

The maximums during this period in both Tamil Nadu an Kerala are settling in the range of 30-35 while the minimums are in lower 20 degrees Celsius. The last 24 hours were no different for both the regions as both Kerala and Tamil Nadu continued with dry and warm weather conditions, turning humid.

However, the dry spell over both the regions is anticipated to end today with possibilities of some light showers approaching.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from southwest Bay of Bengal to Sri Lanka coast and adjoining areas. This system is expected to move further eastwards. In the wake of this, light rain and thundershower activities are expected at a few parts over the coastal regions of South Tamil Nadu and the adjoining extreme southern tip of Kerala.

This weather activity would mainly be covering the cities like Pamban, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kollam.

However, the other parts of both the states would remain dry and humid. In the meantime, as Chennai lies in the northern piece of Tamil Nadu, the climate would stay dry over the city. The rain and thundershowers would continue for the next 24 hours, reducing by tomorrow. However, the intensity is expected to pick up the pace once again after the next 48 hours.
