Ongole, Nellore, Kavali to witness rains, isolated showers over Rayalaseema

The state of Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing almost dry weather conditions for the past few days. Good showers had remained hidden from the region for quite some time now. However, isolated pockets of Andhra Pradesh coast did witness some rains during this time period.

The last 24 hours also saw similar weather conditions and light to moderate rainfall activity was seen over coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Kurnool recorded a good 17.5 mm of rains, Tirupathi 10 mm, Machilipatnam 1.8 mm, and Nellore 2.4 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is over Tamil Nadu coast and adjoining areas. Due to the presence of the system, moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal has been taking place over the region.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, scattered light to moderate rains are expected over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours. However, Rayalaseema will only see isolated rainfall during the aforementioned time period. Cities including Bapatla, Ongole, Nellore, Kavali, Anantapur and Chittoor will witness good showers.

Due to these rains, temperatures will also witness a marginal drop over the state of Andhra Pradesh in the coming days.
