The pre-monsoon spell which commenced on March 16 has not given any significant rain over Gujarat. However eastern and Southern districts of Gujarat have received a few good spells of rain and thundershowers. On the other hand, Vidarbha and Marathwada along with north Madhya Maharashtra and North Konkan have witnessed good rain.
A trough was extending from interior Karnataka to North Konkan. And a cyclonic circulation was over Southwest Rajasthan and the Kutch area of Gujarat. The trough has weakened, and the cyclonic circulation is shifting to the East. Therefore, light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells may occur over Eastern parts of Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada for the next 24 hours and will reduce the after. There are chances of isolated light rain over Eastern parts of Gujarat and north Madhya Maharashtra for the next 24 hours and the weather will go almost dry thereafter.
These rain activities have helped in the abatement of heat waves from coastal areas of Maharashtra. Maximum temperatures of Madhya Maharashtra Vidarbha and Marathwada have also dropped significantly leading to relief from ongoing hot weather conditions. Gujarat has also witnessed a drop in temperature by 3 to 4 degrees.
This relief from hot weather will be short-lived. As rain activities are going to stop and maximum temperature will start increasing gradually.
