Ongoing Mumbai rains to continue for some more time

Mumbai rains have been lashing the city of dreams for quite a long time. The month of June was fantabulous in terms of rainfall activity as the city recorded a whopping 792.6 mm of rainfall against its average of 493.1 mm.

Come July and rains did take a slight break for a day or two wherein only light rainfall activity was witnessed. However, rains did pick up pace and two consecutive days of three-digit rains were witnessed over the maximum city.

The last 24 hours were also not bad as the Santa Cruz observatory did record a good 43 mm of rains. On the other hand, rains remained of moderate intensity over Colaba, which recorded 32 mm of rainfall.

These rains are attributed to the presence of an off-shore trough which has been persisting along the West Coast. A cyclonic circulation is also over South Rajasthan and adjoining areas which has been pulling moisture over the region.

Thus, as per Skymet Weather, on and off light to moderate rains with a few heavy spells are expected to continue over the city for the next two to three days. The average rainfall is likely to range between 40 and 60 mm but the intensity of these showers will vary from place to place.

Comfortable weather will persist over the city of Mumbai with cloudy sky conditions. In fact, occasional breaks with sunshine in between may also occur during the day over the city of Mumbai.
