The states of Punjab and Haryana have not seen intense weather activities for a few days since the weather parameters are over the central parts giving heavy rains over Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
However, there has been isolated rainfall over Karnal in the past 24 hours wherein 26 mm rains of moderate intensity was observed.
Now, as per the weathermen at Skymet, there is a possibility of on and off rains to be seen over not only Punjab and Haryana but also the national capital, Delhi during the next three days or so.
The reason for such rains can be attributed to the Monsoon trough, which happens to be in its transition phase. Thus, on and off rain activities may continue over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and the western part of Uttar Pradesh. These showers will remain patchy in nature. However, there is a possibility of moderate showers over the foothills of the Himalayas.
By August 10, break monsoon conditions will commence over the northern region of the country. This is likely as the Western end of the Monsoon trough will move to the foothills of the Himalayas leading to dry weather conditions over North West India. Humid winds will be replaced by dry and warm westerly winds.
