Monsoon rains have been doing wonders for the city of Kolkata that has been witnessing good rains throughout the month of July. The city of Joy has not seen many dry days ever since July began. Moreover, it is anticipated that August will too start off with good rains for the capital of West Bengal.
In fact, the state as a whole has also been fortunate for being blessed by good Monsoon showers all through the month along with a few isolated heavy and extremely showers as well. At present also, the weather of Kolkata is cloudy with rains showing up in parts of the city soon.

As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough is now running from North Rajasthan to the Bay of Bengal across Gangetic West Bengal. A feeble cyclonic circulation is also over the northwest Bay of Bengal. In the wake of this weather system, light to moderate rains is expected to continue over many parts of Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata.

In comparison with the moderate to heavy rain that has occurred in the city a couple of days back, the rain intensity has reduced drastically. On July 27, the city of joy recorded 22 mm of rains which were 0.3 mm in the last 24 hours.
Apart from Kolkata, the other districts of West Bengal that have recorded light rains during the similar time frame include Bagati that witnessed 24 mm of rains, and Diamond Harbour 11 mm. While Bankura and Shanti Niketan witnessed very light traces of rains to the tune of 1 mm and 0.6 mm respectively.
Skymet Weather further reiterates that as no other significant weather system is persisting over the region, thus heavy to very heavy rains are ruled out. But on and off light rains with one or two moderate spells are possible. These rains will keep the temperature of Kolkata under control and weather will be comfortable for the next 2-4 days.
