April began on a rainy note forKerala. Since the month began, many districts of the state have witnessed light showers. While moderate rains were also observed at one or two regions of the state.
The continuous downpour was observed in stations like Kochi where rains had spared only a few days by not pouring. On and off showers occurred in a few other parts of the state as well. In fact,Kochihad witnessed traces of rains in the last 24 hours as well.
The reason for these rains as per Skymet Weather can be associated with a trough that is continuously present over interiorTamil Nadu. Sometimes it oscillates towards Kerala and due to its close proximity to the sea area, humid winds are increasing moisture content over the region.
Whenever temperature rises, it leads to thundery cloud build up and subsequently resulting in thundershowers. Though the trough is persisting over interior Tamil Nadu, but Tamil Nadu being a rain shadow area, therefore, pre-Monsoon activities here are lesser than Kerala.
True to their nature, these typical pre-Monsoon activities occur during late afternoon or evening hours. Moreover, on and off rain and thundershowers are expected to continue throughout the month. However, the intensity of rains may vary from places to places but the possibility of a complete dry spell is ruled out for at least the next two to three days.
