The northern parts of Punjab and Haryana, northwestern parts of Uttar Pradesh and isolated places of North Rajasthan have been experiencing rain and thundershower activities since the last few days.
Several places like Amritsar, Chandigarh, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Pilani and Jalandhar have witnessed dust storm followed by light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the last 24 hours. All these activities were accompanied with strong winds.

In the wake of these activities, Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan as well as Uttar Pradesh have observed a significant drop in the day temperature. Nights have also been pleasant and comfortable.
The reason for these activities can be attributed to the presence of a Western Disturbance and its induced Cyclonic Circulation. However, now the systems have started moving in east/northeast direction.
According to Skymet, with the moving of both the systems, the northwestern plains of the country will experience dry weather for next 24 to 36 hours. Due to dry weather, a significant rise in day temperatures will also be observed, but, nights will continue to remain pleasant and comfortable.
After 24 to 36 hours, another Western Disturbance, which is presently lying over northern parts of Afghanistan, would start moving in east/northeast direction. Thus, a fresh spell of dust storm along with thundershowers will commence over Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan. These activities will commence by the night of May 26 and continue until May 27.
