The wait for good Delhi rains has begun once again. After giving some rainy days to Delhi and NCR, the rains once again took a backseat and the saga of continuous on and off rains took a break. Delhi has failed to record rains after July 24. Though isolated light spells were recorded by Delhi and NCR in the last 48 hours.
Light rains occurred in Delhi including the nearby areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad yesterday as well. In a span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory recorded 3 mm of rains, Palam Observatory witnessed 2.8 mm while Ridge Observatory recorded light traces of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough continue to pass from south of Delhi via North Madhya Pradesh and South Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, good rains are not expected to continue over Delhi for the next 48 hours. Though isolated spot rains may keep on occurring.
The region is also affected by moist easterly winds which are leading to the development of convective clouds over Delhi and NCR thereby resulting in light rains.
Heavy rains as per Skymet Weather is not anticipated over Delhi and NCR as of now due to the absence of any significant weather system. However, by July 29, the Monsoon trough is likely to shift towards North which is expected to give good rains over Delhi and the adjoining regions. Until then, Delhi and nearby Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad will have to deal with the warm and humid weather.
