At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is running south of Delhi and south of its normal position. Thus, humid southwesterly winds are continuing to blow over Delhi and the NCR region and temperatures are also on the higher side. Thus, due to increase in temperatures and availability of high humidity, thundercloud formation has been taking place in patches which is resulting in spot rains over some parts of Delhi.
These rains are highly localized in nature and last in some pockets for an hour or so. As there is no significant system is present over the city of Delhi, Delhi has not been witnessing widespread Monsoon rains.
Thus, similar weather will continue over Delhi throughout the week and fairly widespread rains are not expected for another week or so. However, the good news is that Delhiites will continue to see these short lived rains which will bring in some relief. The bad news is that due to rains not being a continuous affair, sun will come up and humidity levels will be high resulting in discomfort.
