Odisha to witness light rain activity

March 5, 2017 3:28 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The weather over Odisha remained dry and warm in past many days. Both day and night temperatures remained above the normal levels over the entire region.

Now, due to an anti-cyclone over central parts of Bay of Bengal, humid winds from southwest direction coming from Arabian Sea and dry winds from southeast direction coming from Bay of Bengal will reach the state.

Due to merging of these opposite winds, few convective clouds are expected to develop.  These clouds are rich in moisture content, which eventually will result in rain and thundershowers over many parts of Odisha.

As per Skymet Weather, though this rain activity is not expected to be widespread, but still many parts of Odisha will manage to get short rainy spells.

The rain intensity is likely to vary from place to place. By March 10 and 11, weathermen predict an east-west trough to develop over Odisha. With this, we can say that rain and thundershowers are expected to continue throughout the next week lashing many parts of Odisha.

Due to development of convective clouds, thunder squalls may also occur in some parts. Day temperatures are likely to fall, but minimums will see an upward trend due to formation of clouds.
