Odisha generally receives good rainfall of 1150 mm during the Monsoon season. However, this year, Monsoon for the state has remained slightly on the lower side.
Most pockets of the state have witnessed fairly widespread rains along with light spells at a few places in the last 24 hours. Paradip has observed rainfall amounting to 72.5 mm in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday.

The rainfall deficiency for Odisha was 24 percent during the month of June which has decreased considerably in the month of July due to few good spells.
As on July 26, Odisha has received 17 percent lesser rains than the normal. Now, light to moderate rains are expected to lash the state during next 2- 3 days. Thereafter, significant increase in the rainfall activity is expected over the state around July end or early August. Possibly by July 31, Odisha will once again witness good showers as rain intensity would probably pick up pace.
