Odisha to witness another spell of dry weather

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers have been observed over many parts of Coastal Odisha in last few days. Even the capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded some showers but intensity was less as compared to the coastal areas.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30am on Saturday, Cuttack recorded 13.5mm of rainfall, Gopalpur 10mm, Puri 9 mm; Chandbali, Paradip and Balasore recorded traces of rain activity.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to a trough that is extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to South Odisha. Also, an anti-cyclone is marked over central parts of Bay of Bengal. This system has increased the moisture feed, leading to development of convective clouds over Odisha. These clouds are capable of pounding good rains and thundershowers.

But, as per Skymet Weather, now the trough has shifted northeastwards. Due to this, we can expect pleasant weather to be replaced with dry weather conditions over Odisha. However, isolated parts of the state may still record light rain and thundershowers for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather is expected to go dry over the entire state.

Before this spell of rain, Odisha have been reeling under dry weather conditions that resulted in the temperatures to raise several notches. The reason for hot weather can be attributed to the prolonged dry spell and absence of any significant weather system.
