Odisha has been receiving good rainfall activities for the last few days. All thanks to the weather system which developed over the Bay of Bengal and gradually moved inland. At present, it is lying over Vidarbha and adjoining North Telangana region as a low pressure area.

The capital city Bhubaneswar received 35.9 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours.

Balasore 27.6 mm of rainfall, Cuttack 27 mm, Puri 22 mm, Dhenkanal 21 mm, Chandbali 16 mm, Jharsuguda 9.4 mm and Gopalpur 6 mm of rainfall.

Thus, we can say that the state has received widespread light to moderate showers.

According to Skymet Weather, rainfall is likely to reduce over the state during next 24 hours. This is because the weather system is gradually weakening and will become insignificant after about a day or so.

As of September 24, Odisha has received 11% less rains than normal. We have seen about 992.8 mm of rainfall in Odisha against the normal of 1163.3 mm, so far this season.

Odisha is one part of the country which generally tends to receive good rains during the Monsoon season. This is because all the weather systems forming in the Bay of Bengal bring good showers over Odisha, before moving inland.
