Usually Monsoon reaches Odisha by June 10 and by this time Monsoon rains starts to affect coastal Odisha and by June 15 it cover the entire state. But this year, Monsoon has reached the sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Northeastern states of India till now.

Though on and off rains will continue over the state but good showers only limiting themselves to north coastal Odisha. Rains are expected to pick up pace from June 18. A cyclonic circulation is over east-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast. This system will gradually intensify and move in northwesterly direction resulting in increase in rainfall activity over Odisha.

Though good rains will commence by June 18 and it will continue to lash many parts of Odisha. We hope that by June 20, most parts of Odisha will be covered by Monsoon rains.

So to make it simple, from June 18 to June 23, many districts Odisha will receive good rains. Impact of these rains will be over coastal districts like Bhubaneswar, Puri and Gopalpur.
