The impact of depression, which has given heavy downpour over Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh is being witnessed by Eastern parts of the country. In fact, the depression has weakened, and the cyclonic circulation is persisting over Tamil Nadu. A trough is extending from this cyclonic circulation to Gangetic West Bengal across coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Odisha.
In the wake of these weather parameters light to moderate rain with few heavy spells occurred over these States. Although these rains can be termed as unseasonal rains. But rain activities in the month of November are not unusual over Eastern parts of country.
Usually, Odisha and West Bengal receive rain in winters due to the formation of any significant weather system over Bay of Bengal. Such as low-pressure area, depression, or cyclone. These weather systems often travel in west or Northwest direction towards Odisha and West Bengal coast and give moderate to heavy showers over East India.
The trough is expected to persist therefore rain activities may continue for another 24 hours. Another spell of rain and thundershower may occur over Eastern parts of the country between November 18 and 20.
