Until October 23, Odisha has been rain surplus by 25% but by October 24, there was a fall in rain surplus by 3% and it came down to 22%. It all happened in a day’s time solely because of prevalent dry and warm winds.
Although, isolated light rains have been witnessed over coastal parts of Odisha, wherein Bhubaneshwar recorded 2 mm of rain but that was of no help. Since there are no moderate to heavy showers expected, therefore there will be no increase in rain surplus.
As per Skymet Weather, no weather system is likely to affect Odisha and it’s surroundings. Thereby, weather is expected to remain dry over entire state for the next three days.
However, we can expect scattered rains from October 29 up till November 1. The coastal areas would witness light to moderate rains whereas interior parts of Odisha might see isolated rains. Post these rains, the rain surplus of 22% will then gradually decrease.
Factually, large part of October remained dry in Odisha. Rains were witnessed between October 9-12 when many districts of Odisha received heavy to very rains due to cyclone Titli. These heavy spells made the state rain surplus.
The entire state of Odisha also remained surplus during the Southwest Monsoon 2018, ending with an excess of 12%.
