Odisha is gearing up for some heavy rains, commencing Tuesday evening. All thanks to the potential cyclone brewing in Bay of Bengal.
The deep-depression is marked over East central Bay of Bengal and is very likely to intensify into Cyclone Titli within the next 12 to 24 hours.
With system move in west/northwest direction, the coastal districts of Odisha have already come in the periphery of this weather system. Therefore, we expect scattered light to moderate rains to commence over coastal areas of Odisha such as Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Puri, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore by today evening.
Gradually, as the potential Cyclone will come closer to the coast, rain intensity will also increase and will cover some more districts of Central Odisha such as Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Phulbani, Angul, Baripada and Kendujhar.
Moreover, wind speed will increase significantly over the coastal station of the state. Thus, the sea conditions will also become rough to very rough.
Heavy to very heavy rains and strong surface winds are expected over coastal districts of Odisha during the next three days. Rain intensity will be more on October 10 and October 11.
Due to these heavy rains, flash floods and water logging may also occur over many coastal regions. The fishermen and general public are advised to stay away from sea between October 10 and 12, to avoid any mishappening.
