Scattered rainfall has occurred over Odisha and Chhattisgarh during last 24 hours. Few heavy spells were recorded over some parts as well on Saturday.
Light to moderate rains will continue over these two states for the next 2 days. Intensity of rainfall is likely to increase after 48 hours.
During last 24 hour, Raipur received 56 mm of rainfall, Rajnandgaon 32 mm, Durg 56 mm and Ambikapur 3 mm.
In Odisha, Cuttack witnessed 26 mm of rainfall, Paradip 10 mm, Phulbani 8 mm and Koraput 4 mm of rainfall.
After 48 hours, more showers are likely to lash Odisha and Chhattisgarh in view of a fresh weather system coming up in the Bay of Bengal.
We can see a cyclonic circulation developing over west-central Bay and adjoining Andhra Pradesh coast. The weather system is expected to strengthen gradually, moving in a west-northwest direction.
So far, the state of Odisha has received 12% less rains than normal while Chhattisgarh is rainfall deficient to the tune of 5%. The ongoing spell of rainfall will definitely help the above-mentioned states to recover and inch towards normal rains.
