During the last two to three days, North coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Odisha are receiving rain and thundershower activities. The rains are mainly light with a few moderate spells.
During the last 24 hours, Kalingapatnam received 39 mm rain, Cuttack 14 mm, Bhubaneswar 2 mm, Gopalpur 5 mm, Puri 6 mm and Chandbali received 6 mm of rain.
The Confluence Zone which was instrumental for these rains is still persisting. Also, an anti-Cyclone is in the Bay of Bengal which is feeding moisture to Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Moreover, a Trough is also extending from Jharkhand up to South Chhattisgarh leading to an increase in the rainfall activities.
Now, we expect scattered light rain with one or two intense spells to continue over coastal parts of Odisha and North-coastal Andhra Pradesh. Gradually, the interior parts of Odisha will also start receiving rain and thundershower activities.
These rains and thundershower activities are expected to continue until the next 48 hours. Thereafter, the weather activities will start subsiding as the Confluence Zone will start weakening. These unseasonal rains are expected to continue for the next two days. The minimum temperature will remain above normal. However, the maximum temperature will settle below normal.
