Rain in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh has been witnessing splashing Monsoon rains since last few days. The month of August has started on a rainy note for the state. Few spells of three digit rains were also recorded, which have made the weather pleasant across the region and the discomfort levels have come down.

In the past day also, rains of varying intensity were witnessed in almost all the regions. As per Skymet Weather, it is anticipated that these rains are likely to continue at least for the next 24 to 48 hours. These rains will be fairly widespread in nature.

These rains can be attributed to the downward shift of the axis of Monsoon trough from the foothills of Himalayas. Also, a cyclonic circulation is also persisting over North Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas, which will further enhance the rains.

In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Nowgong received heavy rain of 130 mm, Sheopur 56 mm, Jabalpur 49 mm, Shivpuri 35 mm, Guna 33.9 mm, Satna 28.8 mm and Tikamgarh 17 mm of rain. Damoh, Datia, Bhopal, Betul, and Gwalior also witnessed light rains.

At present, West Madhya Pradesh is rain deficient by 11 percent and East Madhya Pradesh is deficient by 13 percent rains. With these continuous hefty rains across both the regions, it is likely that the rain deficit will come down.
