November ends on deficit note across India, Northeast Monsoon remains surplus

While winters began to make an appearance over most parts of north and central India in November, as far as rainfall activity is concerned it hasn’t been a good month per se. The month of November has remained submissive with rains being deficit by 35 per cent Pan India.

On the contrary, the month of October was surplus at 47 per cent. This was because Monsoon withdrew late and rains continued over many parts. Northeast Monsoon also made an appearance during the same month resulting in good rainfall activity over South India.

As far as Northeast Monsoon is concerned, in virtue of good rains in October, there remains a surplus of 23 percent between October 1 and Nov 30. When it comes to other parts, all three regions of Northwest India, Central India, East and Northeast India have been surplus between Oct 1 and Nov 30. In November, good rains were observed in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Rains for South Peninsula are at 0 percent, making it normal.
