Northwest India continues to observe high day temperature

October 12, 2015 1:06 PM |

Summers in JaisalmerPeople across the plains of Northwest India continue to reel under high day temperatures. The maximum temperature in the region is settling in the high 30s, almost two to five degrees above the monthly normal.

Rajasthan and Gujarat in particular are observing high maximums. Some areas in the region have seen the day temperature settle beyond the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, an anti-cyclonic circulation over South Rajasthan and adjoining areas of Gujarat is keeping the weather dry. The system has also led to change in the wind pattern over the region.

At present, dry and hot northwesterly winds are blowing over the region that has resulted in high day temperatures.

According to meteorologists at Skymet, no respite is expected from the soaring mercury for at least next 48 hours. However, early morning and night temperatures are comfortable.

Weathermen at Skymet say that the rise in maximum temperature is considered to be normal during October. This period is also considered to be the second summer.

Let us have a look at the maximum temperatures recorded across the region on Sunday.
