In Northern Plains of India, only West Uttar Pradesh is 25% rain surplus as on July 25, while Punjab is witnessing rain deficiency of 9%, Haryana 12% and Delhi 56%.
During the last 24 hours, heavy rains have been observed over a few parts of West Uttar Pradesh such as Bareilly recorded a whopping of 113 mm of rain. Also, scattered rains have been witnessed over many regions of Punjab, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Skymet Weather expects rain intensity over the northern plains of the country to rise. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains on July 26 and 27. On and off rains will continue over the regions but the intensity of rain will be lower than the normal.
At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is extending from South Delhi through Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, but soon will shift northwards and thus will run along the northern plains of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.
This trough along with a fresh Western Disturbance will further increase rain activities over the entire plains on July 26 and 27.
