The Northwest Indian plains have been observing extremely high temperatures with some parts of the region even witnessing heatwave conditions. However, things are all set to change as a prolonged and extensive spell is approaching the plains as well as the hills of north India.

Western disturbance has approached the western Himalayas and its induced cyclonic circulation is also over the northern plains. With this, a prolonged spell of rain is expected between today and the end of the month. A slight break is expected on May 27 and 28, but thereafter once again some spell may be seen.

The peak activity is likely between today and May 26. The possibility of some heavy thunderstorms, lightning and rains is quite likely. Due to this rainy spell, temperatures are expected to see a massive drop and heat wave conditions will abate from the entire region
