An active Western Disturbance is likely to approach the hills of North India during next 24 hours. This system will further induce a cyclonic circulation, which will develop over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Rajasthan.

With the combined effect of these systems, the sky is expected to become partly cloudy. Thus the plains are expected to witness a rainy spell.

According to Skymet Weather, rain and thundershowers may commence over the plains by January 25. Thereafter, the intensity will increase. While few places will record moderate showers, isolated areas may observe heavy showers.

Punjab may record light rain around January 24. On January 26 and 27, many parts of West Uttar Pradesh will record good rainfall.

Meanwhile, minimum temperatures will continue to rise on account of warm southwesterly winds blowing across the region. Also these winds will aid in increasing the cloud cover over many parts. For now, the wind chill factor has completely abated from the region.

For past many days, most parts of northern plains were reeling under extremely cold wave as well as cold day conditions. So much so that temperatures were settling well below normal levels. As far as hills of North India are concerned, snowfall has become a common feature. Several hill stations were lashed by heavy rain and snowfall.

With the fresh and active Western Disturbance approaching, rainy and snowy spells are expected over the hills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the coming days. With fresh rainy spell over the plains of North India.
