Northern Plains all set to receive another spell of rain and hail

With the approach of a fresh Western disturbance and formation of an induced cyclonic circulation over another plains, we expect rain activities to commence once again over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR, North Rajasthan and parts of West Uttar Pradesh from January 5th. Rain activities will be at its peak on January 6th over these areas. Chances of hailstorm cannot be ruled out over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.

Change in wind direction and cloud cover minimums will increase giving much needed relief from chilling winter. Day temperatures may drop by 2-4 degree. Cold day conditions are possible at isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. These activities will continue until January 7 and weather will clear up thereafter.

After the passage of Western disturbance and caseation of rain, icy cold winds from north and Northwest will start blowing across another place leading to significant drop in temperatures. Cold wave conditions are possible over parts of Punjab Haryana Delhi and North Rajasthan by the January 8 or 9. Dense fog may also occur over parts of Northern Plains on January 8 and 9.
