The hills of North India are once again bracing for a rainy and a snowy week. After getting drenched with heavy showers and snowfall during the month of February, rains are in store for the northern hills in March once again.
As per Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayas on the evening or night of March 6. On account of this weather system, rains are expected to commence over the state of Jammu and Kashmir from late evening today.
The intensity of these rains will be isolated in the beginning but gradually, the rain intensity will pick up the pace from March 7. However, heavy rain and thundershowers are expected to lash the hills by March 8. The moderate and heavy intensity of rain and thundershower is likely to occur at most places of Jammu and Kashmir also including the regions of Uttarakhand as well.
Skymet Weather further reiterates that the Western Himalayas can brace for back to back Western Disturbances once again. Thus, the region is likely to get affected by rains and thundershowers with the possibility of snow in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
These rain and snow episodes in the Western Himalayas are likely to continue until March 12. Hence, in a nutshell, fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are expected to lash the northern hills the next week.
This may be the last heavy rainy spell of this season and by March 13 onward, the weather is expected to clear up. The day temperatures will also start rising. However, until then both the maximum and minimum will remain below normal.
