Srinagar receives highest rains in a decade, more snow likely

Due to back to back Western Disturbances, the northern hills of the country have been observing snow and rains since February began.

Most of the popular destinations in northern hills have been enveloped under white snow. In fact, the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir under the circumstances of hefty snow and rains was also on high avalanche alert.

Thereafter, weather of the hills of North India went on to become dry. Due to this, temperatures also scaled up, settling above normal in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir also in Himachal Pradesh.

However, as reiterated by Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayan region tonight. This would affect the northern hills thereby paving way for more snow and rains in the hill states of North India.

The intensity and spread of rain and snow are also expected to upscale. Moreover, these snow and rain spells will also cover most parts of Uttarakhand.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Himalayas are predicted to be affected by a series of Western Disturbances which would result in continuous snow and rain for the next 4-5 days. In fact, the isolated reaches may also get accumulated under heavy snow.

During the passage of Western Disturbance over the northern hills, both minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to witness a significant fall.
