Northeast monsoon usually remains active in the first fortnight of December, causing decent rains in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, South interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh. After the first fortnight of December, rainfall reduces drastically over these regions. Extreme southern parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu will still receive some rain. However, by third week, the peninsula hardly experiences any rain.
