North and South interior Karnataka are rain excess whereas all other Meteorological divisions are either in normal or rain deficient rain category. Only Rayalaseema has recorded one percent surplus rain and Tamil Nadu and Karaikal is surplus by 3%, whereas all other meteorological divisions have recorded less than average rainfall. Andaman and Nicobar Islands received 3% less rain, coastal Andhra Pradesh is 8% deficient, Telangana 4%, coastal Karnataka 37%, Kerala by 23% and Lakshadweep by 27%.

Weak monsoon conditions are expected to continue over entire South Peninsula for at least next 8 to 10 days. Rainfall during northeast monsoon is very crucial for southern States. These rains help in recharging groundwater and reservoirs.
