Northeast monsoon rain to continue in AP, coastal Odisha

Northeast monsoon rains remain active over Andhra Pradesh and coastal Odisha as the low pressure continues to prevail over interior parts of Andhra Pradesh, over Telangana and Rayalaseema,

Under its influence, 15 out of 23 districts in Andhra Pradesh will receive rain. Heavy rain is expected at a few places over Adilabad, East Godavari, Guntur, Hyderabad, Khammam, Krishna, Machilipatnam, Nalgonda, Nellore, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Vishakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Warangal and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh. Due to this system the weather in south India will remain cloudy.

Hyderabad 43mm, Visakapatnam 101. 2mm, Kakinada 200.6 mm and Vijaywada received 54 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

Ten coastal districts of Odisha - Angul, Balasore, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khordha and Puri will also receive rain at many places with heavy fall at one or two places in next 24 hours.

Gopalpur received 59 mm while Balasore received 116 mm of rain during the last 24 hours. Capital Bhubaneswar recorded 77 mm of rain in this period.

The outer reach of the weather in south India will also affect Jharkhand as it did last evening to wash out the One Day International between Australia and India in Ranchi. Ranchi received 9 mm of rain yesterday, the 23rd of October. Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata will also receive some rain in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Rain belt may shift westward or northward according to the movement of the weather system.
