October 28, 2014 12:38 PM |

The first month of Northeast Monsoon is coming to an end and Tamil Nadu continues to receive plentiful rain during the last week of October. The adequate rainfall during the season also indicates possible achievement of monthly normal for many parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai.

Though rain had reduced considerably yesterday over parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, it picked up the momentum in past 24 hours. The state witnessed a spell of moderate showers in the same span.
Places to receive good showers in the last 24 hours in Tamil Nadu are Vellore – 63 mm, Kanyakumari – 66 mm, Coonoor – 34 mm, Kodaikanal – 37 mm, Coimbatore – 60 mm and Dharmapuri – 18 mm.

The situation was grim for all these places yesterday as Dharmapuri received 11 mm, Coimbatore received 27 mm and Kodaikanal received just 4.6 mm.

The other places to receive showers were in the neighboring state of Karnataka. They were Chitradurga with 17.2 mm of rain, Bengaluru with 36.6 mm of rain and Madikeri with 5.2 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
