Whenever a storm forms in the Bay of Bengal during the Northeast Monsoon season, we generally see that the Northeast Monsoon patterns get disturbed and take time to restore.

The same has happened as Cyclone Michaung formed in the Bay of Bengal and crossed the Andhra Coast yesterday. With this, rains were intense over the Andhra Coast as well as parts of Tamil Nadu and even many areas of Telangana.

However, other parts of South India that get rain during the Northeast Monsoon including Coastal Karnataka as well as South Interior Karnataka did not see sufficient rainfall activities. It will take some time for the pattern to become normal.

Now, as the storm has crossed coast, rainfall activity over Tamil Nadu has reduced. Along with this, parts of Kerala, South Interior Karnataka will see mild weather including the cities of Chennai and Bengaluru for the next two days.

Around December 8, until the 10th of the month, we can expect an increase in rainfall activities over South India as a Cyclonic Circulation will form over Maldives and adjoining Comorin region.
