Northeast India to witness good pre Monsoon rains

Northeastern states have been recording extremely good pre Monsoon rains. In the past day, light to moderate rain with few heavy spells was recorded in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Tripura.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, North Lakhimpur recorded rain to the tune of 50 mm, Silchar 48 mm, Gangtok 35 mm, Goalpara 41 mm, Chaparmukh 26 mm, Guwahati 20 mm, Dhubri 19 mm, Half Long 13 mm and Tezpur 10 mm of rains.

These rains rain be attributed to the remnants of the Western Disturbance which is moving along Tibet. In fact, the trough which is extending from Bihar to Manipur across the remaining northeastern states is also responsible for the rainfall activity.

As per Skymet Weather, pre Monsoon showers of varied intensity will continue to occur over Northeast India during the next 24 to 48 hours. Along with rains, moderate to strong winds will also accompany. In fact, thunder squall activities are also expected to occur over Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura.

Due to the rainfall activity, the weather across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Tripura will continue to remain pleasant. In fact, both the maximum and minimum temperatures will settle below normal.
