Good spell of Monsoon showers is expected to lash Northeast India from next 24 hours. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, rain activity has already picked up its pace and is likely to increase both in term of intensity and spread from Thursday onwards.
Skymet predicts, moderate to heavy rainfall will continue for at least next two to three days. Sikkim is expected to witness heavy to very heavy rain during this period.
As per Skymet, the region was witnessing subdued rainfall for last few days on account of a low pressure system brewing in Bay of Bengal. This system had taken away all the moisture and led to change in winds. Now with this system moving inland, winds have also reversed from easterlies to southerlies.
Moreover, secondary arm of Monsoon trough is also passing through the foothills of Northeastern region. This will enhance the weather activity over the states.
Let us have a look at the rainfall figures recorded in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday.
