Pan India rains for the last two weeks have been on the lower side. Heatwave conditions have been prevailing across East, Central and Peninsular India. Pre-Monsoon showers have been minimal across the country except for Northeast India.

As such, Northeast India witnesses good amounts of rain during the pre-Monsoon season. Even this year, Northeast India has been receiving rain on a daily basis for two weeks now. Many places have also exceeded the monthly normal or are inching closer to break those records. Here’s a look at such places:

Northeast India will continue to receive very good rains during next few days. Rainfall will vary in intensity with few places receiving very good showers. Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh will particularly receive good showers.

At present, Northeast India is the only pocket of the country to witness good amounts of pre-Monsoon  rains. This part of the country is setting new rainfall record everyday while other parts of the country are reeling under severe heatwave conditions. The country is sizzling at a time when the Northeastern states are enjoying rain and hailstorm.

Here's a look at the rainfall figures in Northeast India during last 24 hours:

The diurnal range of temperatures in Northeast at present is just about 5 to 7 degree Celsius. The minimums are hovering around 18 to 20 degree Celsius while maximums are around 26 degree Celsius. In most of the other places of the country, the diurnal variation is the maximum during this time of the year. Due to clear skies, there is no blockage and the mercury comes down drastically during the evening hours.
