The seven sisters of India from north to south, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura were reeling under dry weather conditions since last many days.
The low pressure area that had developed over Southeast Bay of Bengal moved in northwest direction but lost its strength while reaching North Bay. This weather system weakened into a cyclonic circulation and affected many areas of Northeast India.

During the past 24 hours, light to moderate rains were observed over many areas of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. While similar weather activity was experienced over parts of Arunachal Pradesh and East Assam.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Lumding recorded 14 mm of rains, followed by Kohima 8.4 mm, Kailashahar 4.2 mm, Silchar 3 mm and Guwahati 1 mm.

Skymet Weather is of the view that scattered rains will continue to affect Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura until today. Thereafter, as this weather system is likely to move away further eastward, the weather will yet again go dry.
In addition, maximum temperatures that have dropped by two to three degrees in the wake of clouding and scattered rains, will start rising. Days would remain pleasant with bright sunshine, while nights are expected to be cold.
Moderate fog is also predicted at many places, with dense fog at isolated areas after 24 to 48 hours over Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura.
