As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Monsoon rains have already picked up pace over several parts of Northeast India. Particularly, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya have recorded moderate to heavy rains during the last 24 hours. Few places have also witnessed extremely heavy rainfall.
According to Skymet Weather, these active Monsoon conditions can be attributed to the northwards movement of the axis of Monsoon trough. The trough is now running closer to the foothills of Himalayas.
Not only this, a cyclonic circulation is also marked over North Bangladesh and adjoining Assam that is also enhancing the rain activity.
As we proceed further, the trough is likely to oscillate further closer to the foothills of Himalayas. In wake of this, we can expect vigorous Monsoon conditions over Northeast India.
During the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to batter several parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, along with Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Few places are also expected to record extremely heavy Monsoon showers.
Meanwhile, remaining states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will continue with mainly moderate showers with isolated heavy spells.
