Northeast India all set to see widespread rains as showers to reduce over other parts

Cyclone Daye had given very good rains for several parts of the country, however, Northeast India failed to record good rainfall. Moreover, Northeast India has remained a deficient pocket right from the beginning and continues to remain so even now.

The maximum deficiency persists in Manipur at -57 percent followed by Meghalaya at -40 percent. On the other hand, the best performing region has been Mizoram which has seen normal rains so far.

Usually, when Monsoon is active over central as well as northern parts of the country, Northeast India observes subdued Monsoon conditions only. The same was the case this time as well when central and northern areas were lashed by hefty showers while rainfall remained on the backseat for Northeast India.

Now, as most of the systems which were causing rainfall will fizzle out, it is Northeast India’s turn to see good rainfall activity in the coming days. Rainfall activity is all set to increase over several pockets of Northeast India.

The state of Sikkim along with Sub Himalayan West Bengal will see widespread rains. In fact, states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya will also see good rains. Isolated pockets may also see heavy showers.
