Northeast Gujarat likely to receive good rains

Southwest Monsoon has made its onset over many parts of Gujarat. However, the onset hasn’t had much impact on the rainfall amounts over the state. In fact, currently, Gujarat is the most rain deficit pocket of the country. Many areas have been craving for some good rainfall activity.

During the month of June, the entire state craved for good rains. In fact, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad could not even reach their respective monthly rainfall figures during the month of June. Currently, both Gujarat Region and the Saurashtra and Kutch sub divisions are observing a rainfall deficiency of a whopping 58 percent.

However, now it looks like rain gods have finally answered to the prayers of the residents. During the next 24 to 48 hours, the north-eastern parts of Gujarat are likely to receive good rains. In fact, many areas may even record a few heavy spells.

These rains will be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is currently over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. Due to this weather system, both Northeast Rajasthan and Gujarat will receive good rains in the coming days.

During this period, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Mahesana, Patan and other adjoining cities are likely to receive rains. This upcoming rainy spell will be helpful in bringing down the rainfall deficiency to at least some extent.
