Weather in North India to turn colder in next 48 hours

The Western Disturbance which brought in good amounts of snow and rain in North India, currently lies over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas. In the last 24 hours, remnants of the Western Disturbance brought good amounts of rain in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh also received light rain. Here’s a list of precipitation recorded in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday.

We can see that the intensity of rain has reduced as the Western Disturbance is moving away from the Indian region. As no other weather system is expected in the higher reaches for around a week, the weather in North India will turn dry.

Rain in India

Dry weather will prevail across the country during the next 24 hours baring isolated rain over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal. Isolated rain and snow is expected to continue over two Himalayan states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

This spell of rain and snow in the hilly areas has drawn cool northerly winds to the plains. Yesterday, these cool winds led to a drop in maximums in Rajasthan by 4°C to 6°C. This belt of cool winds will cover entire North and parts of Central India in next 24 hours. Weather in Delhi could turn cold once again as both maximum and minimum temperature is expected to drop by 3°C to 4°C, in the next 48 hours.
