February 18, 2016 4:58 PM |

Weather-in-KashmirNorth India is looking forward to a fresh spell of weather activities, with varying intensity during the next 48 hours.

On one side, hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will receive light to moderate rain and snow. While, the northwestern plains of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Northwest Uttar Pradesh will get light to moderate rain and thundershowers.

According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Western Himalayas and is presently marked over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. The system will move eastwards and will start impacting Jammu and Kashmir by Friday.

Meanwhile, its induced cyclonic circulation is marked over Punjab and adjoining Rajasthan. The system has already given some light rain over parts of Rajasthan and Delhi. Moving in tandem with the Western Disturbance, this circulation will also shift eastwards nearing areas of Northwest Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR.

The wet spell is likely to last for next two days. In wake of this, minimum temperatures have increased significantly and settling way above the normal.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, February has performed well in comparison to December and January that have been largely dry. Back to back Western Disturbances along with induced cyclonic circulations have been influencing weather on regular intervals.

However, even with this weather activity, North India is still lacking far behind the monthly average rainfall figures.
