The state of Gujarat like many other parts of India have been hot and dry weather conditions for the past few days. In fact, the region has been witnessing heatwave conditions as well. Ahmedabad on March 27 witnessed a maximum of 42.8 degrees which happens to be the highest in the month of March during the last six years.
Not only this, other areas of Gujarat were witnessing sky high maximums. These weather conditions were attributed to the dry and hot northwesterly winds which were blowing from Pakistan. Temperatures were already too high in Pakistan resulting an increase in maximums over Gujarat.
However, the last 24 hours have brought in a slight drop in temperatures. Several areas where the maximums were settling above 40-degrees have dropped down by one or two degrees. In fact, the maximum in Ahmedabad has come down to 39.8 degrees from 41.8 degrees.
These conditions are attributed to the slight change in wind pattern. Now, westerlies from North Arabian Sea will blow over the Gujarat region. Due to this, temperature drop is likely.
However, humidity is expected to increase due to the change in wind pattern. Thus, no relief is expected. In fact, the residents of Gujarat will continue to feel the summer heat despite a drop-in temperature. Not only this, chances of heat stroke are also likely during the next few days.
