Hills of North India has been performing extremely well this season, with some record snow and rainfall. The credit can be given to successive as well as active Western Disturbances approaching Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Uttrakhand for the past many days. This has resulted in fairly widespread of rain and snow across the hilly region.

Further also, we do not expect much change in the ongoing weather conditions as rain and snow would continue to drench the region as well.

According to Skymet Weather, the present Western Disturbance has already made an exit in the last 24 hours, following which the weather has started clearing. But just after a brief break of 24 hours, another Western Disturbance is expected to approach the hills soon. This would again be an active one, further resulting in good snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Uttrakhand for at least 48 hours i.e January 25 and 26.

However, it would not be as active as the previous one and the impact of the system would be confined to hills only. Though northern plains would not see any significant activity, but light winter rains in the foothills of Pathankot, Jalandhar, Patiala, Chandigarh cannot be ruled out.

This Western Disturbance will effect northern hills for the next two days. Thereafter, it would clear the region across the region but the remnants may give isolated weather activity in the hills.

Cloudy sky and windy conditions can also be seen at a few places in the northern plains. With this wind pattern would change and in wake of this, the minimums will rise and settle below normal.  Meanwhile, the maximums will settle a little below normal on account of rain and snow. Dense fog in isolated pockets can also be observed in the northern plains.
