No relief from warm weather in Rajasthan soon

February 17, 2017 1:45 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Most parts of Rajasthan have been reeling under dry and warm weather for the last many days. Due to these weather conditions and change in wind direction, temperatures in most parts of the state have increased significantly.

At present, both maximum and minimum temperatures over western parts of Rajasthan have been settling well above normal by 5 to 7 degrees. Meanwhile in eastern parts of the state, temperatures are settling above normal by 3 to 4 degrees.

Moreover, we do not expect any relief in the coming days as temperatures will continue to rise further.

Usually during this time of the year, temperatures do not soar up to this level and existing summer like situation occurs rarely. These prevailing weather conditions can be attributed to successive Western Disturbances which have been affecting Western Himalayas. These system obstruct the flow of dry and cold northerly winds from reaching Rajasthan that led to rise in mercury.

The series of Western Disturbances is likely to continue till February 20. Thereafter, the weather is expected to clear up over the hills of North India. Also, the flow of cold and dry northerly winds will commence once again. In wake of this, temperature will start falling initially over West Rajasthan and then over East Rajasthan.

Thus, we can expect some relief from warm and uneasy weather conditions after February 21. However, drop in temperature will not be very sharp. Days will continue to remain warm with clear sky and bright sunshine, while nights will be comparatively comfortable.
