In general, the weather system that develops over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea fails to impact Vidarbha. That’s the reason, why summer remains harsh over the region.
Now, maximum and minimum temperatures are above the normal range over most parts of Vidarbha. As on Thursday, Buldhana registered a maximum of 37°C, Nagpur 36.2°C, Wardha 36.6°C and Yeotmal 37°C.
As per Skymet Weather, any relief from the ongoing hot weather conditions is not anticipated for a week or so.
Further, weathermen expect the formation of a confluence zone, with the merging of southeasterly winds from Bay of Bengal and southwesterly winds from Arabian Sea.
Thereafter, some respite is in sight around March 7 and 8, when light rain may make an appearance over parts of Vidarbha. At this time, the sky would remain cloudy, leading to fall in temperatures.
At this juncture, let’s have a look at the impact of weather on agriculture:
Farmers are recommended to irrigate summer Groundnut, sesame and vegetable crop at an interval of 5 to 7 days. Banana, Orange and Pomegranate should also be irrigated at regular intervals.
Due to hot and dry winds, fruits and vegetable crops may lack adequate moisture; therefore to reduce this, farmers could create wind barriers around the field and complete harvesting of Wheat crop.
