Hot and humid Mumbai weather has refused to let as mercury continues to settle several notches above the normal average. Mumbaikars have been braving scorching afternoons for the last 2-3 days.
On Wednesday, the entertainment capital recorded day maximum at 37.2°C, which was eight degrees above the normal temperature of 31.2°C.
What is more distressing is the fact that there is no relief in the offing, at least for the next 3-4 days. In fact, maximum temperatures are likely to soar further and may touch 38°C or 39°C in the coming days.
Being a coastal city, levels of humidity are also very high. This combined with the soaring mercury makes the weather unbearable.
As reiterated by Skymet Weather, hot and humid easterly-southeasterly winds continue to blow uninterrupted over the region. Until and unless, there is a change in wind pattern, we do not expect any relief from the hot weather. Moreover, we do not expect formation of any weather system.
We can expect some relief February 21-22 onwards, wherein winds are likely to change their pattern. Winds will then start blowing from northeast direction. These winds will be cooler in nature, that will bring much needed relief over the city.
Mumbai also does not receive any significant rains during February and its average rainfall also stands at mere 1.3 mm.
